Dave’s story:
While traveling for my day job, I stumbled upon an episode of BBQ Pitmasters on TV, and what started as background noise quickly became a passion. Intrigued by the idea that my love for BBQ could be transformed into a competitive endeavor, I decided to give it a shot.
With little preparation and a lot of determination, I entered a local competition and, to my surprise, clinched 5th place in the chicken category. That moment sealed my fate—I was hooked! Each competition I participated in brought me closer to a community I now proudly call my BBQ family.
A new BBQ competition team is created
SmoQued On Main St officially came to life in late 2022, with just two competitions under our belt. However, 2023 was our year of growth, with 12 competitions showcasing our passion and skill. As we gear up for the 2024 season, we're excited to represent MyDadsBBQ sauce and continue our journey in the world of competitive BBQ.
Our team name, SmoQued On Main St, holds a special significance. It's a nod to my wife's decorated sugar cookie business, Measured On Main (MOM), which we established after moving to Main St in our town. Inspired by the community and spirit of Main St, I crafted our competition name to reflect that same sense of pride and belonging.
